Skies open up at the Gong - H & H riders out of luck in Rd 2

The Hart and Huntington / InsureMyRide team rolled into WIN stadium (Wollongong NSW) with hopes that the forecasted weather would hold off, but unfortunately it wasn’t to be. Just before the main events kicked off the skies opened up and dumped a massive amount of rain, soaking the track and turned it into a mud pit for the second week running.

With the pits opening to the public at 3pm the Hart and Huntington / InsureMyRide pit area was quickly swamped with curious fans wanting to check out the action. The DJ was on the decks spinning beats, promo girls were doing their thing and the riders signing autographs for their fans.

Luke Urek was unfortunate in his heat race just missing out by 1 spot to qualify to the main event, he later competed in the LCQ for a spot in the finals. Getting a good jump off the gate Luke battled his way through the pack but then stalled his bike on the straight which put him out of action for the rest of the night.

Blose and Camilleri were next in line for the Pro Open heats in group A. With Blose pulling the Holeshot (And having the 3rd fastest lap time in qualifying) he lead the race for over half way until his front end washed out. This put him straight into the LCQ. Camilleri didn’t have the best jump off the line which would also send him to battle it out in the LCQ. With Blose and Camilleri in the LCQ this meant both riders had to finish 1st and 2nd to qualify to the main event. Camilleri got the Holeshot and was riding like it was his last race, Blose then passed Camilleri and continued to win the LCQ while Camilleri hung right behind Boyd to finish 3rd.

With reports of rain coming we were only hoping the main event wasn’t going to be a repeat of last week’s mud race, but unfortunately we weren't that lucky and a mini storm hit the venue turning the track into a pool of mud. Although Blose’s start in the final was near perfect he got caught up in a pile up at the first corner due to the being on the outside gate. From almost dead last Blose fought his way through the pack to 6th place until bad luck struck the Hart and Huntington / InsureMyRide rider again clipping a tough block and throwing him off course. Blose finished the night off in 15th place which he was wasn't happy with at all, on the positive side of things Chris has shown he has the talent and speed on a dry track to mix it with the best and get on the box at the end of the night.

Current Championship standings for the Hart and Huntington / InsureMyRide riders.
Luke Urek – Pro Lites – 19th place
Chris Camilleri – Pro Open – 18th place
Chris Blose – Pro Open – 13th place
