Scott makes Sunday recovery at Winton

Central Coast rider Glenn Scott has made a concerted recovery in Sunday’s three races as part of round four of the 2014 Australasian Superbike Championship, following an unfortunate Saturday where he was involved in two crashes that saw his Team InsureMyRide Racing crew work hard to see him return to the points on Sunday.

After qualifying 15th in Friday’s 18 minute session, Scott knew he needed to focus upon making up ground in Saturday’s races with three ten lap events providing the opportunity for him to build upon his strong bank of points acquired across the first three rounds.

Two crashes in the first two races on Saturday provided an unfortunate beginning to Saturday for Glenn, with the team working impeccably hard to prepare the Team InsureMyRide Racing Honda Superbike for the final race of the day. With that event being declared after two laps due to two red flags, Glenn was unable to record a lap time, thus he would start Sunday’s races from 22nd. Despite the results for Glenn, he continues to be in touch with the front runners in the series standings for the AFX Championship, sitting fourth.

A determined fight back by Glenn in the first of Sunday’s three races saw him rise to take 16th, before further progression in race two and three had him finish 13th in the final two ten lap events. The recovery of Scott on Sunday saw him take 14th for the day, thus he currently sits ninth in the Championship.

Glenn Scott;

“The Winton round has been one of the most challenging race meetings I have ever had. Three major crashes on Friday and Saturday left me pretty battered and bruised, however my incredible team worked with an unbelievable level of commitment and dedication to deliver me a bike to race on. Their efforts were incredible and without them I wouldn’t have been able to make it out on track.”

“After crashing out of two races on Saturday and then race three being declared after two laps, I was unable to put in a qualifying time for Sunday putting us 22nd on the grid for the three races. I was definitely feeling extremely lucky to be lining up on the grid on Sunday and we tackled each race as it came. To take 14th overall was a massive effort and I was glad to score points in every race.”

“Overall it was such a tough weekend but I’m happy to get through it with the help of my awesome team. This round has made me stronger and my team smarter. I can’t wait for round five, we have a lot of work to do in the next six weeks but I'm confident we will find our feet and hit the ground running at Wakefield Park.”

Round five of the 2014 Australasian Superbike Championship takes place at Wakefield Park Raceway, Goulburn, NSW from September 12-14.
