Hartwell Championships - Round 3 Broadford, June 19-20
Practice was a write off due to the rain. Clouds cleared for Qualifying. Stacey qualifies in 15th position in a time of 1:08.3
Race 1 - 5 Laps / Grid of 26
Stacey’s lap times were consistent 1:08’s which put her over 10 seconds in front of 15th position!
Quote Ben Reid (coach & mechanic) ‘It was great to see Stacey match her Personal Best lap times in the first qualifier. The first race went really well but I can see her struggling with pit corner. I know we have room for improvement here.’
Race 2 – 5 laps / Grid of 26
What an exciting race! Stacey’s first flying lap was a personal best lap time of 1:07! The 3 following laps are all 1:07’s. On the last lap a fellow competitor attempts to make a pass under brakes. Stacey holds her line through turn 1 maintaining 13th position.
Stacey said ‘It was then I realised I had a fight on my hands. I wrapped on the throttle a little harder and earlier than usual in an attempt to break away. Heart in my throat, I thought I’d lost it completely! The rear lost grip and I was thrown out of the seat, I veered off the track into the dirt. Managed to regain control, but dropped back to 14th position. I pushed hard for the remainder of the lap in an attempt to chase down the Kawasaki in front.’ Stacey finishes in 14th position.
