Windham wins in Salt Lake City
In sloppy conditions at Rice-Eccles Stadium, Kevin Windham won his second consecutive Monster Energy AMA Supercross race in front of 38,882 fans. Just as the evening's racing began the skies above Rice Eccles Stadium opened up, adding to the difficulty of the tricky Salt Lake City track. As the night wore on the rain turned to hail then sleet and then snow and then back to rain.
Windham won the Spike Holeshot Award with Honda Red Bull Racing’s Davi Millsaps on his back wheel to start the AMA Supercross class main event. During lap one, Windham and Millsaps traded positions a few times before Windham made the final move and rode 15 perfect laps (the race shortened to 15 due to the conditions) to earn his second consecutive AMA Supercross class win. Millsaps finished second and his teammate Andrew Short finished third. The win now has Windham second overall in the points as he fruitlessly chases Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey.
The 2010 Monster Energy AMA Supercross season concludes next weekend at Las Vegas' Sam Boyd Stadium.
Dan Reardon is still recovering from his first round crash, and did not compete in this round.
