Villopoto Edges Closer to Dungey

The Monster Energy AMA Supercross at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium welcomed 38,321 fans on Saturday night for round 12 of the 2010 season. After a tough outing one week ago, Monster Energy Kawasaki's Ryan Villopoto rebounded to capture his sixth win of the year. 

Ivan Tedesco, took the Spike Holeshot Award at the start of the AMA Supercross class main event, with Villopoto and Kevin Windham in tow. Ryan Dungey found himself in fifth. Shortly after the first corner, Villopoto made his winning pass and went on to lead all 20 laps. Behind him, Windham and Dungey both moved forward and battled for the runner-up spot throughout the race before Dungey made his pass stick on lap 12. Villopoto and Dungey would finish 1-2 while Trey Canard edged out Windham at the line for third.

With the win, Villopoto gained three points on his championship rival with five races remaining. Dungey currently holds a 21-point lead over Villopoto in the AMA Supercross standings.

The 2010 Monster Energy AMA Supercross takes the Easter weekend off before resuming action in two weeks from Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas.

Dan Reardon had a horrible first round crash at the beginning of 2010, which is still causing him troubles. After coming back for a few rounds, Reardon has dropped back out and this weekend was the 3rd race in a row he will miss.

This message from Dan's team manager: "He's still feeling the effects of his brutal A1 crash and we're giving him some time to build some mental and physical strength, we look forward to his return to racing."
