Reardon Finishes 9th At Anaheim
The Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series found its way back to Anaheim for the final time in the season for round six, in front of 34,227 fans.
On the first dry track the series has seen in three weeks, Dan Reardon finished 7th in his heat, with the top 9 riders going through to the main event. In the 20-lap main event Dan finished 9th, moving him up to 18th position in the overall standings.
Ryan Villopoto put together a performance that the fans in Anaheim won’t soon forget. Once Villopoto took the holeshot, he never looked back in what was his most dominant performance of the season.
With that momentum, as the series prepares to move east to Indianapolis, Villopoto has closed the margin between first and second place in the overall standings to just three points. Ryan sits in second place behind Josh Hill and Ryan Dungey, who are now tied at the top of the overall standings.
With last season’s four top finishers out of action with various injuries, the 2010 championship is up for grabs. Even early in the 2009 season, it was clear the championship would be to a two-man race between James Stewart and Chad Reed, however, in their absence, three riders are separated by just three points on top of the 2010 standings, with several more within shooting distance.
The series now leaves the west coast and heads for Indianapolis for next weekend's race.
