VILLOPOTO'S 5TH WIN CLOSES GAP ON DUNGEY
It was another strong night for Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto as he raced to his fifth win of the year at round 10 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross at Toronto's Rogers Centre, in front of a crowd of over 42,000 fans.
As the gates dropped Honda Red Bull Racing's Trey Canard grabbed the Spike Holeshot Award followed by Valli Motorsports/Rockstar Yamaha's Ivan Tedesco and Villopoto. Prior to the conclusion of the first lap, Villopoto made his move for the lead around Canard and went on to lead all 20-laps of the main event.
The win was Villopto's fifth of the season and moved him another three points closer to the Rockstar Makita Suzuki-backed Ryan Dungey in the series points chase and gave him momentum heading into next week’s race when the series will make its debut in the new Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas.
Dan Reardon did not compete in this round.
