AMA Supercross East Coast Debut In Front Of Huge Crowd
In front of a packed crowd of 60,019, the 2010 Monster Energy AMA Supercross season made its East Coast debut from Indianapolis' Lucas Oil Stadium.
Dan Reardon finished eighth in the heat and advanced to the main race. Unfortunately Reardon hit the deck halfway through the main and called it a night to finish 19th. Reardon remains in 18th position in the overall standings.
When the checkered flag flew, Monster Energy Kawasak's Ryan Villopoto stood atop the podium for his third win of the season. Villopoto almost didn’t make it to the main event, crashing out of his heat race, but managed to get in through the last chance qualifier.
With Villopoto's win and Dungey's second-place finish, the two riders are tied for first in the standings at 145 points, but Villpoto holds the advantage with three wins to Dungey’s two. Joshua Hill, who had four consecutive second-place finishes before Indy, didn’t have a good start and finished in ninth. But he still has a great shot at the championship, trailing the leaders by 10 points.
The series heads to Atlanta on February 27, for its eighth race of the season at the Georgia Dome.
