DUNGEY CAPS TITLE-WINNING SEASON WITH VEGAS WIN
Ryan Dungey won his sixth AMA Supercross class main event at the season ending Monster Energy AMA Supercross finals inside Las Vegas' Sam Boyd Stadium.
Dungey captured the Spike Holeshot Award with Moto Concepts/Yamaha’s Kyle Chisholm on his back wheel through turn one. Monster Energy/Kawasaki’s Chad Reed had a good start in the 20-lap Main Event which saw him slot straight into second behind race leader Ryan Dungey by the second corner, Reed pushed his KX450F hard and matched lap times with Dungey throughout the race but was unable to make ground on his young rival. Geico Powersports/Honda’s Kevin Windham, who came into tonight's race on a two-race win streak, started mid pack and by lap eight moved into third place, passing Chisholm.
Dungey led all 20 laps en route to victory to cap off his AMA Supercross championship season. Reed finished second and Windham finished third.
Dan Reardon finished 27th in the overall standings, after missing several rounds due to injury.
