Compulsory Third Party Personal Injury (CTP) Insurance, also known as a Green Slip, provides compensation for people injured in a motor vehicle accident, but cover for injuries to the driver/rider who causes the accident are limited. CTP protects the owner of the vehicle, or any other person who at anytime drives/rides the vehicle/motorcycle, against claims for liability in respect of the death or injury to a person caused by the fault of the owner or driver/rider of the vehicle/motorcycle found to be at fault. If you do not have a Green Slip, you could be personally liable for an injury compensation claim which could reach millions of dollars.

Unregistered Motorcycle – requiring a Blue Slip
There are several reasons why you may be required to obtain a blue slip on your motorcycle, including if you:
- Buy a motorcycle that has never been registered.
- Move a motorcycle into NSW from another state. This includes motorcycles with or without a current interstate registration.
- Import a motorcycle from overseas.
- Have a motorcycle with expired or cancelled registration. This includes NSW registrations that have been unpaid for longer than three months.
You cannot purchase a NSW CTP Green Slip using the InsureMyRide website if any of the above conditions apply, however if you require an InsureMyRide Green Slip for your unregistered motorcycle, please use the Contact Us online form.
CTP and GST
GST registered business entities can claim an Input Tax Credit (ITC) on the GST component of their CTP insurance premium.
If you are uncertain of your GST status or entitlement to claim an ITC, please discuss with your accountant, financial adviser or tax agent.
When you purchase a CTP Green Slip Policy, if your bike is registered for GST purposes, you will be asked "Is anyone entitled to claim an Input Tax Credit on this Green Slip?". If anyone is entitled to claim an ITC, you must answer YES to this question whether or not you will actually claim the ITC.
