Amazing Julio Does It Again

Julio Languiller

Melbourne-based scooter fanatic Julio Languiller has done it again, breaking yet another world scooter endurance record, this time for riding an unmodified four-stroke 50cc moped for 24 hours.

Setting out at 10am on Saturday, March 3, Julio rode a Honda Today 50 for some 1084km during the following 24-hour period, along an 18km bayside circuit from Brighton's clock tower to Mordialloc pier.

Julio used just 34.85lt of fuel in the record attempt, and didn't experience a single problem throughout the entire ride. Julio is now waiting to hear from Guinness for official confirmation of the record, which smashes the previous effort made by Omar Khalek last year, when he rode a two-stroke 50cc TGB some 981km in 24 hours.

"Riding the entire circuit in a 60km/h zone, the Honda Today, with a maximum speed of 53km/h, was perfect for the conditions," said Julio. "There were no hiccups with the running of the 50, which proves they can keep going and going and going. They're reliable, economic and environmentally friendly - perfect for getting around inner city streets," he added.
