A Triumph for Supersport Championship AARK Racing

Mitchell Carr on board his AARK Racing InsureMyRide Triumph Daytona 675 R has won the Australian Motul Supersport series at Queensland Raceway this past weekend.

The standard of competition in race one was world class, with the three championship contenders, Carr, Waters and Hooks, battling it out relentlessly. Carr on board the Daytona 675R was quick out of the corners, consistently challenging the Suzuki and Honda until 13 laps in when the heat of the battle took its toll on machinery. Hooks bowed out with a gear box problem only seconds before Waters was to follow with smoke bellowing from the engine of the GSXR. Carr rode on crossing the line a clear 5 seconds ahead honouring a handy 24.5 point championship lead heading into the final race.

Carr put in a consistent effort for race 2 with his head down and keeping out of trouble. A strong and firm contest saw Carr across the line in 6th place which sealed AARK Racing and Mitchell Carr's first Supersport Championship 18.5 points clear of race two winner and championship runner up, Josh Hooks.

"As far as we're aware it's the first time that a non-Japanese bike has won the championship" commented Triumph Australia's Marketing Manager Mal Jarrett. " We are really thrilled for the team, as it has taken years of hard work by AARK Racing to finally clinch the title" said Jarrett.

The team went into the last round with a lead of only ½ a point, so the pressure was on from the get go! The first race of the day was a typical fairing banging race that showed up the AARK Racing 675's mechanical strengths.

"I'm absolutely stoked" said Mitchell. "It's a dream come true for me and the team, after the results in the first race it was important to stay alert and in the game, a DNF was not an option. I couldn't be happier, a safe race was all we need to accomplish".

Mitchell is also leading the WA state titles with 2 rounds remaining of the 5 round championship. Mitchell heads to Perth, Barbagello Raceway this coming weekend of the 23rd of September to compete in Round 4 of the state titles. Mitchell is undefeated and holds a comfortable 80 point lead on his Degrey Civil Triumph 675.

Mitchell has been selected to ride the final round of the World Superbike Championship at the iconic Magny-Cours circuit in France, after receiving a one-race offer from a Honda team in Holland. Faced with the expectation of performing at a circuit he's never been to, and on a bike he's never ridden, presents a tough task, however Mitchell is ready to make the most of the opportunity. The call-up to the world stage culminates a remarkable breakthrough season for Mitchell.

Mitchell would like to thank his personal sponsors who have supported him through the 2012 season. Mitchell would like to thank, Berik Leathers, Falco Boots, OGK Helmets, Five Gloves, Bendix Brakes, InsureMyRide, Motul, Triumph and the whole Aark Racing Team.
