Scott wraps up learning year with mixed results in Sydney

Glenn Scott motorbike road bike racing

Team InsureMyRide Racing’s Glenn Scott has completed his first season in the Australasian Superbike Championship with a handful of top ten race results, despite suffering a DNF and early weekend incident that hampered the team’s Friday pace into qualifying. A top ten season finish in both series’ subsequently gives Glenn a strong foundation to build upon for the extended 2015 Championship.

An incident during Friday practice affected Glenn’s momentum leading into the afternoon qualifying session, under sweltering Sydney conditions, the Central Coast rider managed to qualify 13th for the first of three races in the AFX-SBK Championship finale on Saturday. The result was then backed up with 13th in race one before rising to ninth in race two with the final ten lap event seeing Scott climb to sixth, handing him tenth for the round and cementing a sixth place finish overall for the series.

With temperatures rising to in excess of 40 degrees on Sunday, Glenn worked to use his optimum level of fitness to his advantage, claiming 12th in the opening race of the day before a DNF due to mechanical dramas with his bike dashed hopes of replicating his top ten round result from Saturday. A strong recovery to eighth in race three helped Scott to end the year on a high, handing him 13th for the day overall and tenth for the Championship.

Glenn Scott:

“The last round of the Championship has been tough for the team and me, with a crash early on in practice and then bike troubles in race two on Sunday forced us to DNF. We worked hard all weekend in the insane heat and finished off the year with a solid result of tenth overall in a very competitive superbike field.”

“This year has been another massive learning curve, we have been very fast at some rounds but consistency has been hard to find. All part of being a privateer though I guess.”

“I have to thank my three brilliant mechanics; Vaughan, Adam and Dean. Not only did they provide some great laughs, they worked incredibly hard all year and gave me the best bike they could in every session and every race.”

“A special thank you to my amazing sponsors for making this year possible. We are heading back to the drawing board over summer and will be back better and stronger for 2015. Thank you to all my fans and supporters for their kind and motivating words throughout the year, your support is overwhelming.”

A special thank you to; InsureMyRide, MSC Moto, Ipone, AXO, Shark Helmets, Veolia Environment Services, Savage Clothing, Oz Motorcycle Leathers, Jason Kerr, Honda, Speedangle, Unifilter, Veserah, Luke Smith, Bernie Hatton, Mark Wills and my incredible supporting brother and sister my year is not possible without all of you.”

Glenn Scott will reveal his 2015 racing plans in coming months.
