Scott in top six for Saturday

Team InsureMyRide Racing’s Glenn Scott has completed a successful day at a sun soaked Sydney Motorsport Park as the double header for the Australian Superbike Championship got underway with practice and qualifying for Saturday’s race events.

The first practice session of the extended four day format was run under superb conditions, the Team InsureMyRide Racing Honda came out in blistering style throughout the session, with Glenn improving his times continuously, finishing sixth with a quickest time of 1:34.103.

Further improvements were delivered by the team in the second practice session, as Glenn came to grips with a new brake setup, his times dropped, running as high as fourth during the 20 minute session. A quickest time of 1:32.772 placed him fifth in the lead up to qualifying.

“We made a lot of improvements both with the bike and my own riding through practice, the help of Bernie Hatton from Top Rider has been brilliant, our setup changes really paid off,” Scott said.

As the track temperatures rose to in excess of 33C on the flowing Sydney Motorsport Park circuit, Glenn Scott secured an array of quick times early in the 25 minute session. A 1:32.286 set on lap 3 of 11 would remain to be his quickest time, again spending part of the session inside the top four and setting himself for a competitive superpole session to complete the first day.

“We improved even more in qualifying, sitting in fourth during the session was an amazing achievement for Team InsureMyRide Racing, it really gave us an awesome boost for the remainder of the day,” Scott added.

With the three stage Superpole format, Glenn was amongst the top 13 riders released in the first group. Just ten minutes was set for Glenn to achieve a time to propel him to the top nine, a feat he achieved. Narrowing the field, and reducing the time to eight minutes then saw Glenn achieve a time of 1:32.122, securing him sixth place for Saturday’s races.

“It was another tremendous effort by the team to get sixth place from Superpole, it will be really good to start from the second row for Saturday’s races, now I have to work hard on practice and qualifying for Sunday,” Scott concluded.

Round four and five of the Australian Superbike Championship continues today at Sydney Motorsport Park with Glenn’s first session at 10:35am AEST.
