Scott completes top five finish of round four in Sydney

Glenn Scott has taken a top five finish in round four of the Australian Superbike Championship at Sydney Motorsport as the double header event winds towards the business end, Glenn will now divert his focus to race one and two for round five tomorrow where he will start from sixth.

Under spectacular conditions at Sydney Motorsport Park, the opening race was graced with the official media grid that saw sponsors and fans alike have the opportunity to adorn the grid ahead of the first 12 lap event. Starting from sixth, Glenn worked solidly in the opening laps to consolidate his position before applying pressure to fellow young gun, Josh Hook.

A pass with five laps to go entering the notorious turn one saw Glenn rise to fifth place. An enthralling battle at the start of the last lap dragged on with Jamie Stauffer, seeing the pair dice for fourth and fifth. The run to the line saw Glenn take fifth in the lead up to race two.

“We got a brilliant start in race one and were able to stay close to the factory riders, it was a great battle with Josh (Hook) and Jamie (Stauffer) throughout the race and superb to be able to grab a top five,” Scott said.

Again starting from the second row, Glenn got away in the fractionally cooler conditions to sit eighth during the first lap. The hard working Team InsureMyRide Racing pilot fought his way back through to the lead of the privateer’s ranks early in the race to sit sixth outright, comprehensively pulling away from the field behind him. A late race incident to Glenn Allerton saw Scott take advantage and step into the top five, where he would remain right to the chequered flag.

“Unfortunately our start in race two wasn’t as good as we had planned, and I got a little boxed in entering turn one, once I got back to sixth it was going to be a hard task to reel in the factory riders, we definitely made some great advancements and it sets us up really well for tomorrow,” Scott concluded.

Round four and five of the Australian Superbike Championship concludes tomorrow at Sydney Motorsport Park with Glenn’s first race at 11:50am AEST.
