Scott breaking new ground in Sydney

Team InsureMyRide Racing’s Glenn Scott has completed a superb final two races of the Australian Superbike Championship double header by recording a third place and podium position for the first time in his Superbike career. The privateer championship leader then went on to score sixth place in the final race to wrap-up what has been a tremendously progressive weekend in all areas.

Taking a blistering start and climbing to fourth place by the completion of the first sector, Glenn gained ground steadily on Glenn Allerton for the early stages of the race. A blistering lap time with seven laps to go saw Glenn score a 1:30.895, the first time he went below a 1:31sec time for the weekend to date.

Pushing on for the remainder of the race, Scott extended his gap to fourth place by in excess of three seconds taking the podium place comfortably, setting up a stellar final race of the weekend.

“It was amazing to step into the 1min30sec times, it was unreal to finish on the podium and be so competitive with the factory riders, and to be the first Honda home really capped off a great race,” Scott said.

With some high cloud looming, the track conditions cooled considerably for the start of race two. From the jump, Glenn maintained his position in sixth for the opening lap, whilst leading the privateers; he was hard on the charge for the top five early in the race. Glenn’s best times continued to drop with seven laps to go as he recorded a 1:31.257, while continuing to push into an ultra-competitive top five.

As the gap narrowed considerably amongst the top six riders, Glenn remained on their tail to eventually claim sixth and first place in the privateer’s rankings, consolidating his lead in the privateer’s championship.

“It was a really tight race with five of us all dicing for the podium, it really showed how strong the weekend, I can’t thank the entire InsureMyRide Racing team enough, their work this weekend has been incredible, now my focus is on Darwin and to continue these great results,” Scott concluded.

Round six of the Australian Superbike Championship takes place at Hidden Valley Raceway, Darwin, NT from September 13-15.
