Privateer Championship in sight for Scott in Sydney

InsureMyRide Glenn Scott at Wakefield Park

Team InsureMyRide Racing’s Glenn Scott is within sight of claiming the Privateer Superbike Championship at this weekend’s final round of the Australasian Superbike Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park, with Scott hoping to use his past success at the fast flowing and high speed circuit as momentum toward claiming silverware to complete the season.

After a season of both successful results, and some unfortunate events that brought about a small handful of DNF results in races, Glenn is looking forward to returning to Sydney Motorsport Park, not only being his local track but one that he rates highly with past experience reflecting his ability to be at the top of his game at the circuit.

“It’s the last round of the year and I'm really looking forward to competing at Sydney Motorsport Park. It's a fantastic circuit, with very fast flowing corners which should provide for some very exciting racing. We have had mixed results this year, some great moments and some not so great moments. This weekend I'm feeling confident it's going to be a great round to finish the year on a high,” Scott said.

With it being the first year Glenn has competed as part of both the AFX-SBK and Australasian Championship’s, it has acted as a strong opportunity to learn and adapt to a fleet of new competition, including a large handful of factory supported opposition riders and with extensive work carried out in between rounds, the team feel they are prepared for the task ahead.

“We have learnt so much this year, so now it's time to put all that learning in to results this weekend. I love the Sydney Motorsport Park layout, in particular turn one. Fast flowing corners have been a strong point for us this year so I can't wait to get on the bike. The SP is in great shape, I certainly have put it through its paces this year but my mechanic Vaughan, myself and with the help of a select few, we have the bike 100 percent and ready to race,” Scott added.

Leading into the final event of the season, Glenn remains focussed on achieving the Championship win in the privateer standings within the Superbike category and with three races over the Sunday program, the Central Coast rider is confident he will have every opportunity to add the accolade to his growing list of racing achievements.

“I feel we have a good chance of bringing home the first privateer trophy. I'm currently second with a 15 point gap but over three races on Sunday this is achievable. It would be a fantastic feat if we can achieve this as a team after the year we have had. I’m looking forward to seeing as many supporters as possible trackside this weekend to truly end the year on a high,” Scott concluded.

Round six of the 2014 Australasian Superbike Championship takes place at Sydney Motorsport Park, Eastern Creek, NSW from November 21-23.
