New Touring Trumpet Spotted

According to British motorcycle tabloid MCN, a new dedicated touring version of Triumph's Rocket III cruiser has been spotted on a shakedown run near the marque's Midlands-based production facility.

The bike features a full-size screen, fixed hard panniers, a reshaped fuel tank and a single headlight, instead of the existing cruiser's twin headlight setup. MCN also reports that the prototype was fitted with new wheels and new suspension, the latter no doubt to help haul the extra weight with which a tourer must cope.

One thing is certain – with the incredible 147ftlbs of torque the existing Rocket III's 2.3lt three-cylinder engine pumps out, it shouldn't have any trouble adapting to a new touring-specific role…

Triumph itself is remaining tight-lipped regarding the existence of such a bike, but don't be surprised if the model is officially launched towards the end of this year, at any of the major European motorcycle shows.
