Germans Give Tiger The Nod

German bike magazine heavyweight Motorrad recently awarded the new Triumph Tiger 1050 the top slot in a multi-bike shootout, the new Brit machine defeating the likes of KTM's 990 Adventure, Suzuki's DL1000V V-Strom, Honda's XL1000V Varadero and even BMW's R1200 GS.

The comparison test evaluated the machine in several aspects, such as their engines, chassis, brakes and 'everyday' capabilities. The Tiger came up trumps at the end of the test, with the Motorrad team noting that the Brit bike had: "...the best engine by far: perfect throttle response, torquey, spontaneous and powerful..."

This represents the first time BMW's R1200 GS has been defeated in a dual-sport comparison of this nature. The test also praised the Tiger for its seat, ergonomics, rider feedback and its huge price advantage over the BMW. The Motorrad team also noted that although far more road focussed, the Tiger was still an off-road option, due to its: "…smooth engine, perfect throttle control and good front forks."

The Tiger 1050 retails for $15,990 and is available in Fusion White, Caspian Blue, Jet Black or Scorched Yellow. For more information see your nearest Triumph dealer, or visit: www.triumphmotorcycles.com.au.
