ZERO SEVEN MOTORSPORTS – MX NATIONALS ROUND 5 RACE REPORT

Round 5 of the Monster Energy MX nationals took place in Connondale, Queensland on Sunday June 3rd with the TLD-Maxima Zero Seven Motorsports team having a tough day at the races.

With Kade Mosig out with a fractured vertebrae, Queenslander Dylan Peterson has been filling in for the team in the MX2 (250cc) devision. In Connondale, Dylan started off the day qualifying in 15th on the wet and rutted circuit.

Moto 1 saw the 21 year old suffer a first lap crash, however he was able to remount and put on a charge to come from dead last to 13th and set the FASTEST lap of the 30 min race. This was a great sign of his raw speed.

Moto 2 started off in similar fashion, a poor start and first lap fall. He again remounted and pushed through to finish 13th and 14th overall for the day.

"I think I showed I have the speed to run up front, but just need to spend more time on the bike to ensure I don't make those mistakes. Hopefully I can get the opportunity to do more races throughout the season." - Dylan Peterson

MX1 rider Cody Mackie, has had a difficult couple of rounds since tearing ligaments in his ankle at Round Three in  Wonthaggi. Connondale was another difficult round for Cody, suffering some poor starts and a couple of small mistakes. He qualified in 11th but had a huge fall in Moto 1 and suffered a DNF. Cody had a poor start in Moto 2 but managed to ride through to finish in 13th.

"I'm really disappointed with myself at the moment. The team deserves more and at the moment I'm letting them down. I'm going to use the 6 week break to work hard and come back swinging for Round 6." - Cody Mackie

The team will now take a much deserved 6 week rest, before the second half of the MX Nationals series kicks off in Appin, NSW on July 14.
